General Overview of the School:

Montessori Children's House of NantucketThe Montessori Children’s House of Nantucket is a non-profit Montessori pre-school. We serve families on Nantucket with children ages 2 years and nine months through six years old. Our enrollment capacity is forty students.

The school employs five, Montessori trained, state accredited teachers and a certified teaching assistant. Our student teacher ratio is 1 to 7.

The Children’s House board of directors consists of current and past parents as well as community members who offer their time and expertise in the management of the school and oversee the business details. Along with these responsibilities, the board makes short and long term decisions affecting the viability of the school.

Although the school is a not for profit organization, the school’s operating budget is based on income from tuition and is also subsidized by various fundraising events organized and implemented by parents to assist in maintaining an affordable tuition.

The Children’s House has remained successful due to several equally important factors: Dedicated and well educated staff are crucial for any school and The Children’s House has been bestowed with a staff of talented, caring and creative teachers, several of whom have been a part of the school for many years.
